The Best Self Tanning Lotion

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

By Abe Gardea Jeremy was the kind of guy who always wanted the best of everything. He spent his days searching internet consumer opinion sites to determine who made the best omelet, which was the best high speed internet service, and who created the best looking web sites. He was heavily influenced by the opinions of others and as long as it was considered the best whatever he had to have it. Of course he decided at some point that he had to have the best tan and he set out on a bit of a quest to find the best self tanning lotion. Self tanning is essentially the acquisition of a fake tan, achieved by using a self tanning or sunless tanning lotion. For Jeremy, only the best self tanning lotion would do. Even though the tan wasnt necessarily the best (it was fake, after all), but as long as others thought it was the best tan, that was all that mattered to Jeremy. As I mentioned, the opinions of others meant a great deal to him. As Jeremy searched for the best self tanning lotion he went through all kinds of trial and error tests. The first one he managed to discover was the old Coppertone QT Quick Tanning Lotion. He knew that Coppertone was one of the best brands in tanning for a very long time and that QT was the first ever self tanning lotion, introduced in 1960. He decided that if it was the first it must be the best. He was wrong, as anyone who has ever seen the results of QT can attest to. This stuff turned him as orange as an Oompa Loompa. He used some of the best soap and the hottest water he could stand to wash it off. He continued trying different brands and styles of self tanning lotions, convinced he would one day find the best self tanning lotion available anywhere. Some may think that Jeremys search was in vain. How would he know when he found the best lotion? Self tanning lotions all do pretty much the same thing and act in more or less the same way (with the exception of the old QT self tanning technology has advanced quite a bit since then) and the best must surely be a matter of opinion in many cases. That was really the point, however, as far as Jeremy was concerned. As long as he could deem it the best himself, it wouldnt matter what anyone else thought. Happily, Jeremy did indeed find the best lotion. Self tanning became something he would do every few days for most of the rest of his life since hed spent so much time in his search. Which lotion did Jeremy deem the best? I honestly dont know. His search made him a little bitter and cynical. Every time I asked him what the best self tanning lotion was hed tell me to go find it myself. Rare Coins

Monday, July 30th, 2007

By Kent Pinkerton One good form of investment is to buy rare coins that over the years have grown in value. This type of coin, particularly in the United States, boasts extraordinary value presenting a wonderful opportunity for rare gold collectors. With prices at nearly five year lows, coupled with the availability of the choicest coins in the market, this it is the best time to collect rare coins. Rare gold and silver coins are in demand especially among investors, since they provide the needed balance to stock portfolios thereby reducing over all risks and generating a large amount of profit. Financial analysts recommend placing a 10-20% of discretionary funds in precious metals like rare coins even for those who own gold mining stocks. Rare coins are very good performing financial assets in their own right. A recent market analysis of rare gold and silver coins conducted by Coin Universe shows that $1,000 invested in U.S. rare coins during the 70s would now be worth on the average nearly $58,000. If we review history, paper assets like bonds, stocks and treasury bills lose value while gold, platinum and silver rare coins appreciate in value. Having rare coins in your portfolio will dramatically reduce its volatility and protect your investment from economic uncertainties such as inflation. Rare coins that can only be traded should be certified and graded by the Professional Coin Grading Service and the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, two leading independent grading firms. They should come with a complete money-back guarantee. Some firms specialize in finding the right rare coin to suit the buyers needs and budget. Others carry rare coins at an affordable price. Coins provides detailed information on Coins, Gold Coins, Rare Coins, Coin Dealers and more. Coins is affiliated with Antique Collectibles. You Can Stop Biting Your Nails, Here’s How!

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

By Kevin Hamill Are you tired of being self-conscious about your hands and nails? I know exactly what you’re going through because I’ve been there. Did you notice I said, “I’ve been there”. That’s right, I have finally quit biting my nails. I never thought it was possible, but after years of trying to figure it out, I did it. As I mentioned, it took me years to “nail” down how to quit this habit. I had several failed attempts, too many to count. I found myself always hiding my nails and truly embarrassed about them. I was even envious of people with nice nails because I was so uncomfortable with my own. Being uncomfortable about my nails forced me to really think about the problem. I tried all the cover-ups and distractions such as bad tasting nail crme and chewing gum. However, nothing seemed to work on a permanent basis. I would kick the habit for a couple weeks to a month, but I would relapse and be back to square one in no time. In order to stop this habit on a permanent basis, you have to get to the root of the problem. All the cover-ups and distractions help alleviate the desire to bite and make quitting the habit somewhat easier, but they are not a permanent solution. For a permanent solution, you must ask yourself the following question: In what situations do I sub-consciously start to bite my nails? All you nail-biters out there know what I mean! You bring your fingers to your mouth without even thinking about it. For me, as it is for most people, it was stress situations causing me to do this. I was also guilty when I was thinking, panicked, nervous and worried. As you can tell, this covers a lot of situations and feelings, so I was biting my nails a lot. Even with all these feelings causing me to bite my nails, I have quit this habit. I did it by being conscious of these causes and therefore my emotions. In other words, when I was getting nervous, or panicked, I would be mindful of the situation and somewhat control my emotions. I would realize that I was in this emotional state. With the thought in the back of my mind not to bite my nails, I wouldn’t do it. This is the key to quitting this habit. This is the only permanent solution. Try this and you will be pleasantly surprised with the results. A spin-off of this method is being generally more relaxed and in control. I found myself being able to handle pressure situations better because I was more in control, not only of my nail biting, but of my entire emotional state. Everything You Need To Know About Buying The Perfect Bird Bath

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

By Tracie M. Loewe If you are a nature lover but yet find yourself living in a small space, you may think that you have to settle for the sounds of the birds and the wind that gently seep through your open window. However if you like you can add other elements to your life that will let you feel closer to nature. Now you can do this by adding a bird bath to your garden. Since a bird bath is something that offers soothing effects when one sits near it watching all of the birds enjoy a soak in the sun, you will want to ensure the bird bath you select matches the dcor of your surroundings as well as continues to add to the calming balance of your yard. You can do this in several different ways, and the first place to start is at your local stores. You must not believe that one needs to settle for the only one you find at the first store you go to, as in the long run you may end up regretting the decision. Though a bird bath may seem like an easy purchase bear in mind that if the design is something you are simply settling for, you will end up wanting to replace it when you could have avoided that all together. Therefore always ensure to visit multiple stores and see what designs they all have to offer before making a final decision on the one you are going to buy. As for those you are interested in buying one but you do not own property because of living in an apartment, lose no hope! Perhaps you may have a decent sized balcony or patio, just about any type of bird bath should fit perfectly for you. And those who are limited to inside space, you will be able to find small versions that can be placed on a window sill or that can be placed just outside a front or back door. Finally if you are set on buying a bird bath, you should be able to find one for any size location of your choice. Bird baths are also wonderful for children. They enjoy interacting with nature and if they are able to sit near a bird bath and watch the wildlife they will be excited. This is a great way to unwind and also can become a focal point for the family each night. For a lot of people their gardens are their safe haven and adding a bird bath to it benefits the entire family. Just by sitting in the stillness and listening to the sounds of the birds can do away the stress of your day. Truly, the beauty of nature is simply wondrous and having the chance to interact with it should never be passed up. Tracie M. Marriage Counseling: How to Get the Most Value for Your Time and Money

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

By Nancy Wasson Marriage counseling is an investment of money, time, and energy that can give you and your spouse valuable lifelong benefits. If the two of you are going to make a serious commitment to staying in counseling until youve worked through the problem areas, you may be looking at going once a week for three to six months or longer. So it only makes good sense to want to get the most value from your marriage counseling experience. The following suggestions can help you to get the most from your marriage counseling investment: 1. To locate a counselor with a good professional reputation and track record, start by asking your family physician for a recommendation. Also ask any friends or family members who have gone for marriage counseling or who might be in a position to know. You could also ask your minister, priest, or rabbi. If you cant come up with any recommendations that way, then look in the yellow pages under counselors, psychologists, social workers, and marriage and family therapists. Read the various ads and see which ones appeal to you. You can also look online to see who in your geographic area is advertising and what information is available. 2. Before you make an appointment, ask about any areas of concern that you feel are must know ones. If religious orientation is important to you, ask your questions up front. Are you a Christian counselor? is a commonly asked question, and its asked by people from both sides of the issuethose who want a Christian counselor and those who dont. Some therapists will agree to a free short five-minute telephone call with a prospective client, while others simply do not have time in their schedules to do so. Ask the receptionist when you call what the counselors policy is. If you cannot speak to the counselor prior to making an appointment, leave one or two of your most important questions with the receptionist and ask her (or him) to call you back after she finds out the answer from the therapist. 3. If you have narrowed your search down to several potential therapists but cant decide who to work with, you might want to consider making an initial consultation appointment with each one. Level with each counselor and tell her (or him) what youre doing. If any of the counselors are upset by this, then that is not the person you need to work with. Experienced professionals know how important a good match between therapist and client is. They should be supportive of you and your spouses efforts to find the best therapist for the two of you to work with. 4. Use the initial consultation appointment to ask your questions and get a sense of the therapists style, personality, and orientation. Ask about success stories and how long you and your spouse will most likely need to attend counseling. Ask if the therapist assigns homework or not. You should leave the appointment with an understanding of whether or not the therapist will always see you together or if youll sometimes be seen separately, the therapists general approach to marriage counseling, what to expect from therapy, what the goals are, and the projected number of sessions it will take. 5. Pay attention to your intuition and gut reactions during the appointment. You want to work with a counselor you can feel comfortable with and trust. If you feel a sense of rapport and connection with the therapist you select, youll have a better chance of making the most progress. Some personalities fit together better than others. A person with a sense of humor generally wont be able to relate well to a humorless therapist. If the therapist reminds you of your fifth grade teacher who you detested, its best to find another counselor. After the first session or two, if you dont feel comfortable or on the same wave length with the therapist, dont get discouraged. You may need to consider trying another counselor who you feel more in sync with. Its better to go ahead and explore your options than to suffer in silence. 6. Be sure to ask any potential therapist the question, Have you ever participated in extensive personal therapy yourself? You would be shocked at how many therapists have never faced their own individual or relationship issues in counseling. Just think about itwould you want to go to a counselor who recommends counseling to others but has never taken his or her own advice? I can unequivocally say that you should steer clear of counselors who havent done their own personal work in counseling. 7. Schedule the first appointment at a time your spouse can go with you. If one spouse meets with the therapist before the other one, things dont seem to get off to an even start. The spouse who was not able to go to the first appointment often feels that the therapist is biased because the partner got to share his or her side of things first. The therapist is then perceived as leaning toward the spouse who went first, and the other spouse may feel discouraged or left out from the very beginning. And that can affect that individuals morale, motivation, trust in the counselor, and willingness to continue in marriage counseling. 8. Keep the focus on learning as much as possible about yourself. Use this opportunity to grow in self-awareness and self-knowledge, to improve your relationship skills, and to work on personal issues. This approach is less threatening to your spouse than pointing fingers, blaming her (or him), and trying to make your spouse the bad guy. Plus, the only person you can ultimately change is yourself. You cant control whether or not your spouse uses the opportunities for self-awareness and self-growth offered by the counseling experience. But you can commit to taking maximum advantage of this opportunity to work on yourself. 9. Make the time and effort to do any homework exercises and to practice and reinforce any changes in behavior that youre working on in counseling. Change doesnt happen just by talking about it. Change requires taking action and doing things in a new and different way. People learn by doing, making mistakes, correcting the errors, and then trying again. Practicing new behavior in your marriage could be compared to being in a relationship laboratory where you practice relationship skills. It takes time to unseat old habits and for the new behaviors to become established and second nature. 10. Make a list before each session of questions or issues that have come up for you since the last session.. Its a good idea to write down questions and thoughts in a notebook as they come to you between counseling sessions. Then, before each appointment, you can review your notes and organize a list of questions or concerns to take with you and discuss with the counselor. This will help you to stay organized and not to overlook some issue that is important to you. By following these tips, youll be more likely to have a positive marriage counseling experience that can lead to increased personal growth and improved relationship skills. And thats a win-win situation for both you and your spouse. Nancy J.
